Conor McGregor showed his support for the Republic of Ireland’s women’s team by opening up his Black Forge Inn.

The Girls in Green are competing at the ninth ever Women’s World Cup, which is being hosted in Australia and New Zealand.

It is their first ever appearance in a major tournament, with Vera Pauw’s side looking to go as far as possible.

They played their first match on Thursday against co-hosts Australia after New Zealand claimed shock win over Norway.

Given the time difference between Sydney and Dublin, kick-off for the match was at 11:00am in Ireland.

However, it did not stop McGregor doing his best to attract as many people to his pub as possible to cheer on their stars, with the Irishman also making an appearance.

The MMA giant has owned the Black Forge Inn since 2019 and it is located near his hometown of Crumlin.

On the pub’s Instagram account, they said: “Come on down and support Ireland on this historic day!! Kick Off 11am LIVE on our Big Screens – 4k – World Class Audio and The Best Food and Drinks Around!! Lets go!!”

Unluckily for Ireland, they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Australia courtesy of a second-half penalty from Steph Catley.

McGregor is still confident in their chances in the rest of the group though as he tweeted: “In supporting our Irish team this morning at Black Forge Inn.

“Great game ladies, push on now! Dig deep! Very unlucky on a few chances, them goals are coming! Hear the sound of the ball off the back of that net cos it’s coming for us! Ireland forever! Ireland stand up!”

McGregor will be hoping he can attract more support for the side in their upcoming game against Canada on Wednesday.

The pub has previously attracted a host of famous faces including poker star Dan Bilzerian and rap legend Coolio.

McGregor is known to be a Celtic and Manchester United fan and is now showing his support for Ireland on the world stage and offering his pub as an ideal venue to watch.
