Katsina Rep Defects from APC to PDP
The member representing Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency in Katsina State, Ahmed Yusuf Doro, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The defection was formally announced during Thursday’s plenary session in the House of Representatives when Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read out a letter from the lawmaker notifying the House of his decision. In the letter dated July 18, 2026, Hon. Doro stated that the move came after wide consultations with his constituents and a careful assessment of the best platform to enhance service delivery and effective representation.He emphasised that joining the PDP would allow him to better serve the interests of the people of Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency while continuing to discharge his legislative duties diligently in the 10th National Assembly. Doro thanked the leadership and members of the APC for their support during his time in the party and reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing sustainable development for his constituency under his new political platform.The defection takes effect from July 18, 2026, in line with the notification submitted to the Speaker. This latest cross-carpeting adds to the growing wave of political realignments ahead of future elections in Nigeria.
